Kerry & Andy

I always love it when my expectations of a wedding are well and truly blown out of the water – in this case a booking for a full ten hour day with a wedding party of just nine guests. On the way up to Tirtha Luhur, the second (and in some ways more interesting) of Tirtha Bridal’s two cliff top locations, I wondered how on earth I would be able to get the usual amount of photos when the guest list was shorter than the average dinner party. I needn’t have worried though, hailing from Shanghai, Kerry, Andy and the rest of their friends brought along some Chinese traditions that meant the day had plenty of twists, and kept me busy snapping away. First up was the ‘door knocking’ games. With Kerry in her traditional red dress, just out of sight and the girls guarding the locked door, Andy and the groomsmen were challenged to a series of games and punishments like push ups, dancing and saying ‘I love you’ in five different languages. A few red envelopes of money also helped ease the door open. Eventually the guys were let in and we nipped off for a quick photo session around the ornamental pools. Next up, the main wedding dress came out along with a pair of blue suede Jimmy Choos to match the waistband and it was off to Tirtha Uluwatu chapel just a couple of minutes up the road for the main ceremony. Vows read and rings exchanged we moved out front for all the formal shots, before heading back to Luhur for some fun with balloons and fancy dress accessories. Finishing up under the wrought iron gazebo right next to the cliff top, we waited for the sunset show to do its thing. Sunsets are always pretty fantastic here in Bali, but on this day the Gods must have been smiling as we were treated to a picture postcard blue sky that slowly turned into orange haze as the sun hit the horizon. After dark and a final outfit change, dinner was served on the main terrace, with beautiful vintage style table decorations and colour-matched bouquets. An absolutely magical day and once again, best wishes for the future Kerry & Andy.
